Compare Jeep Compass and Chevrolet Equinox near Durham, NH

See How the Compass Stands Out When Compared to its Chevy Competitor

Compact SUVs continue to grow in popularity, especially for those of us who drive on tight New England roads and streets. Offering the versatility of an SUV, and the maneuverability more typically found in a car, the Jeep Compass is ideally suited to life in Portsmouth, Dover NH, Durham NH, and Rochester NH. So, how does this popular Jeep model compare to other options in the segment, such as the Chevrolet Equinox? Read on to find out.

We use base model data when comparing vehicles, and right from the start the advantage goes to the Compass. With a starting Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price that's more than $3,000 less than the beginning MSRP for the Equinox, you can choose to either pocket the savings or use that difference to add even more features to make your Compass your own.

The Compass boasts a 2.4-liter MutliAir 4-cylinder engine that generates more horsepower than the 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder in the Equinox, helping you get down the road that much quicker when you need to get to the next town.

Both SUVs come with standard front-wheel drive, but we advise adding the available all-wheel-drive for better command and control during less-than-ideal driving conditions.

Since we're comparing base models, the standard features found on each are pretty similar. You'll find cruise control, AM/FM stereo, power locks, power mirrors, power windows, and power steering in both, along with remote keyless entry and a tilt steering wheel.

In our opinion, the Uconnect communications system that's available for the Compass is a more user-friendly option when compared to the Chevrolet MyLink system that's offered for the Equinox.

The two compact SUVs feature similar protections for the basic new car warranty, drivetrain warranty, and roadside assistance. The Compass, though, comes with a 5-year/unlimited mileage corrosion warranty, while the Equinox limits their corrosion warranty to a 3-year/36,000-mile protection plan.
